Moka Yoo-Jeong, PhD, RN, is an assistant professor in the School of Nursing within Northeastern University’s Bouvé College of Health Sciences. As a nurse researcher, Jeong’s scholarship centers on the intersections of social relationships, psychosocial factors, and health outcomes in older people with stigmatizing and complex chronic conditions such as those aging with HIV. Through interdisciplinary and community-engaged approaches, she seeks to improve quality of life and foster resilience in vulnerable populations.
Jeong holds membership in professional organizations including the Gerontological Society of America (GSA), American Academy of Health Behavior (AAHB), Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC), American Geriatrics Society (AGS), and Global Korean Nurses Foundation-USA (GKNF-USA). She is a selected scholar of UC San Diego’s NIMH-funded Sustained Training in Aging & HIV Research (STAHR) Program (2023-2025), AAHB’s Research Scholars & Mentorship Program (2024-2025), and GSA’s Advancing Gerontology through Exceptional Scholarship Program (2024-2025). She also is a selected reviewer of the Journal of American Geriatrics Society (JAGS)’s Junior Reviewer Program (2023-2025).
Jeong has authored over 26 peer-reviewed publications in scholarly journals and delivered over 20 conference presentations and invited lectures. She received her bachelor, master, and PhD in nursing from Emory University. She also completed a T32 postdoctoral fellowship in Comparative and Cost-Effectiveness Research Training for Nurse Scientists at Columbia University School of Nursing.
