We are pleased to announce that the December Implementation Science Monthly Rounds (ISMR) will be held on Tuesday 12/09/25 from 12-1pm E.T and feature Dr Jessica Corcoran. Dr. Corcoran is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her work focuses on implementing and evaluating community-engaged interventions aimed at increasing HIV testing, PrEP access, and sexual health education for adolescents and young adults particularly in the Deep South. Since joining the UAB School of Nursing faculty in 2020, she has led two ending the HIV epidemic research supplements, funded by NIH, one focused on integrating HIV and STI testing and sexual health education for students attending an alternative middle and high school. She is committed to leveraging implementation science to improve sexual health outcomes for adolescents and young adults by working directly with adolescents, communities, and healthcare providers, to create community-engaged, sustainable HIV prevention interventions.
Her talk titled “Beyond the Clinic: Innovative Strategies for Reaching College Students with HIV and STI testing Services” will explore findings from a community-engaged healthcare intervention used to increase assess and acceptability of HIV and STI testing for college students attending a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in Alabama. Additionally, she will also discuss the implementation strategies used to expand HIV and STI testing services for college students.
