The October Implementation Science Monthly Rounds (ISMR) will feature Dr. Brandon Knettel, PhD, an Associate Professor of Nursing and Global Health, Associate Director of the Duke Center for Global Mental Health, and a Licensed Psychologist at Duke University. A self-described Implementation Science novice, Dr. Knettel completed the Hopkins HIV Implementation Science Fellowship in 2020-2021 and applied several concepts from that training in his recently completed NIH K08 Award, “Telehealth to Reduce Suicidality and Improve HIV Care Engagement in Tanzania.” In this talk titled “Implementation Science for the Non-Expert: Lessons and Findings from a Telehealth based Career Development Award in Tanzania”, Dr. Knettel will discuss how he incorporated Implementation Science into his mixed-methods intervention development process, which was also informed by principles of user-centered design and participatory action, and a follow-on grant application for a larger Hybrid Type 2 Effectiveness-Implementation clinical trial.
