Prevention Core

OVERVIEW

The Prevention Core of Johns Hopkins University’s CFAR aims to establish a supportive culture focused on four key areas: mentoring junior faculty in career development and research opportunities, providing training in cutting-edge prevention technologies and methodologies (particularly for high-risk populations), fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and supporting local organizations working to end the epidemic. The Core also provides the structural framework necessary to facilitate and sustain this comprehensive approach to HIV prevention research and community engagement.

The Major Goals of the Prevention Core are:

  1. Diversify Research: Enhanced support for the MACC, which serves as a pipeline for early-stage HIV investigators (ESI)
  2. Mentorship: Provide scaled-up and targeted mentoring to ESI to support HIV prevention grant proposal development, with an
    emphasis on community-based participatory research
  3. Service: Provide JHU CFAR faculty and ESIs interested in developing CFAR
Scholar or NIH applications in HIV prevention
