Hi! My name is Milli, and I am a Masters student at the School of Public Health. I will be working at the Johns Hopkins Emergency Department on a new Hepatitis C testing and linkage-to-care program. This program will add to existing prevention services like HIV screening.
My public health interests in infectious disease, health disparities and health inequality motivated me to become involved in HIV and Hepatitis C testing and counseling. To me, Generation Tomorrow represents even more than that – being a part of this team is an opportunity to empower the Baltimore community by promoting health, and moreover, learning from community members and partners.
The first event I worked at was Project Homeless Connect, where approximately 2,000 people who face homelessness in Baltimore came to one location to access various services like legal support, identification, and medical care. Generation Tomorrow provided on-site rapid Hepatitis C screening. Working at this event gave me a chance to interact with community members and appreciate that collaboration between community partners develops a sense of community identity and health equity. I am looking forward to a great year with Cohort 3!
