Baltimore’s homeless community received some much needed services during the third annual Project Homeless Connect event at the Baltimore Convention Center. The annual event was organized by United Way of Central Maryland, and Generation Tomorrow was on site with partners at Sisters Together and Reaching (STAR) to provide free rapid hepatitis C screening services.
Generation Tomorrow and STAR had a great time! We tested 52 people and a 15% positivity rate. Those who tested positive for HCV antibodies were immediately linked to follow-up care services. Everyone who tested was gifted a Generation Tomorrow t-shirt or tote bag.
In addition to free hepatitis C testing, event participants had access to free HIV testing, blood pressure screenings, haircuts, legal advice, identification services, access to healthy food, and more services.
