Announcing the BRACE HIV Program for Clinical and Public Health Researchers

CFARctAre you interested in clinical or public health HIV research?

If the answer is “YES”, please consider joining the BRACE.

What?
BRACE is the Bridging Research and Clinical Experiences in HIV program, sponsored by the Johns Hopkins Center for AIDS Research.  The program will pair a junior-level public health researcher with a junior-level clinical researcher in attempts to initiate a mutually beneficial partnership.  Public health researchers will have the opportunity to observe HIV clinicians in the clinical setting.  Clinical researchers will have the opportunity to receive study design and biostatistics consultation on their research questions of interest.  The mission of the program is to plant the seeds for organic partnerships between junior HIV researchers.

Here is how it works…

Step 1:  Meet the qualifications

Participant Qualifications
Public Health Researcher PhD student who has completed at least 2 years of training

OR

Post-doctoral fellow

OR

Research associates, assistant scientists, and assistant professors who consider themselves “junior faculty”

Clinical Researcher General internal medicine or Infectious disease fellow

OR

Instructor or assistant professors who consider themselves “junior faculty”

Step 2:  Check your calendar and talk with your advisor (if you are a student)
You will need to determine if you have time to participate in the program.  Although there are no time commitment obligations specified, you will need to make sure you are available for observation in the clinical setting and/or provide epi/biostat consultations.

Step 3: Make contact
Those affiliated with JHSPH: Keri Althoff (kalthoff@jhsph.edu)
Those affiliated with JHSOM: Lois Eldred (leldred1@jhmi.edu)
