Thanyawee Puthanakit, MD
Associate Professor Thanyawee Puthanakit is a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. She is a former trainee of the Johns Hopkins University Fogarty AIDS International Training and Research Program. She started her clinical research in pediatric HIV/AIDs focusing on opportunistic infections and antiretroviral therapy in resource limited settings at Research Institute of Health Sciences, Chiang Mai University in 2002. She is a leader in pediatric HIV treatment and care in Asia. She leads several multicenter research projects in Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia and also collaborates with TREAT Asia research program. She has served on the writing committee for the WHO’s pediatric HIV treatment guideline and Thai National Guideline. Her research interest in pediatric HIV includes antiretroviral therapy, very early treated HIV-positive infants and long term outcomes of perinatally HIV-positive adolescents.
