HIV Dynamics and Replication Postdoctoral Fellowships Available

"The HIV Dynamics and Replication Program (HIV DRP, formerly the HIV Drug Resistance Program), CCR, NCI, NIH, HHS is a world-class center for retrovirology research located at the NCI campus in Frederick, Maryland, which offers state-of-the-art facilities, collaborative opportunities, and core facilities for advanced technologies. The emphasis of the HIV DRP is on basic, translational, and clinical research related to genetic diversity, drug resistance, and interactions of HIV with the host. Additional information about the mission of the HIV DRP is available on the Program’s website at http://home.ncifcrf.gov/hivdrp/mission.html.

Principal Investigators and their research interests include:
Eric O. Freed, Ph.D. — Inhibitors of HIV maturation; HIV assembly and release and envelope glycoprotein incorporation; interactions between viral and cellular proteins; trafficking of retroviral proteins
Wei-Shau Hu, Ph.D. — RNA packaging and virus assembly; HIV RNA trafficking; mechanisms of reverse transcription and recombination; HIV replication
Stephen H. Hughes, Ph.D. — HIV reverse transcription and integration; inhibitors of HIV reverse transcription and integration; resistance to anti-RT and anti-IN drugs; HIV integration sites in cultured cells and in patients
Mary Kearney, Ph.D. — Development of novel ultrasensitive HIV assays; dynamics of HIV genetic diversity and expression; mechanisms for rebound from the HIV reservoir; persistent viremia in patients on and off antiretroviral therapy
Frank Maldarelli, M.D., Ph.D. — Studies of HIV population genetics in vivo; studies of HIV persistence during combination antiretroviral therapy in vivo; clinical interventional studies of HIV reservoirs; clinical studies of HIV resistance
Vinay K. Pathak, Ph.D. — Structure and function of APOBEC3 (A3) proteins; host factors that facilitate Vif-mediated degradation of A3 proteins; elucidation of early stage of HIV replication by tracking A3F-labeled viral complexes in infected cells
Alan Rein, Ph.D. — Molecular mechanisms of retroviral assembly and replication; interactions of retroviral proteins with nucleic acids; interactions of retroviral components with host antiviral factors
