Challenges in HIV/AIDS Prevention and Treatment Among Gay Men in China

Yanhai Wan directs the Beijing Aizhixing Institute, one of the HIV/AIDS related NGOs in China. The institute works on HIV/AIDS and public health related policy, legal aid, human rights and community outreach among the most vulnerable populations. This HIV/AIDs related work has led to Yanhai Wan's detention three times in the past 12 years, including a month-long detention in 2002 that made international headlines and sparked a successful international campaign for his release. In honor of his work, Yanhai Wan has been awarded numerous human rights awards. He is also a former Fulbright Fellow and Yale University Global Fellow.
