"Characterizing the Reservoir Profile of HIV-1 Subtypes CRF02_AG, G, and F2 in aviremic Adolescents Under Long-Term Antiretroviral Therapy in Cameroon: A contribution toward cure research in West and Central Africa"
Aude Christelle Ka'e is a virologist and early career investigator in the virology laboratory of the Chantal Biya International Reference Centre for Research on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Management (CIRCB). She holds a PhD in Microbiology and infectious Diseases (university of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy); MSc in Medical Microbiology (University of Yaounde 1, Cameroon) and a BSc in Biomedical Sciences (University of Ngaoundere, Cameroon). She is of Cameroonian nationality, a country located in the Congo basin which is reported as being the origin of HIV-1, where she is contributing in the biological monitoring of people living with HIV since 2017. She has interest in HIV/AIDS research, with a particular focus on pediatric populations. As 2023 Research-for-Cure Alumni, her current research focuses on understanding HIV reservoirs, transmission dynamics, and treatment outcomes among adolescents living with HIV-1. With 8 years' experience, Dr. Ka'e actively contributes to several projects in collaboration with various International and national networks where she also mentors master's students. In this current CFAR Africure award, she will contribute in advancing HIV cure research in West and Central Africa by investigating the reservoir profile of HIV-1 subtypes CRF02_AG, G and F2 in aviremic adolescents living with HIV-1 in Yaounde, Cameroon.
