Defining the role of proviral intactness and integration site in differential HIV-1 reservoir inducibility in ART-suppressed Ugandan males and females
Dr. Edward Kankaka is a clinician and early career investigator at Makerere University and at the Rakai Health Sciences Program in Uganda. He was born in Rakai, the epicenter of the early HIV epidemic in East Africa, where he has also provided clinical care since 2014 at one of the largest HIV clinics in the region and coordinated several studies in one of the largest and oldest HIV cohorts. Dr. Kankaka is passionate about extending the frontiers of cure research on HIV, and other persistent pathogens, to Africa. He applies statistical modeling, dynamic modeling, and bioinformatics to analyze HIV reservoir dynamics with a goal of identifying cure opportunities.
