Research Interests

My long-standing interest is in the development and application of biostatistical methods in the health sciences including Public Health, Epidemiology, Medicine, Health Services Research and Health Policy. The translation of research results into action that can bring about a change in population health and policy is both exciting and important.

My research interests have focused on the natural history of HIV and drug addiction and on identifying effective multi-level interventions that target individuals through mobilization of community resources. I am interested in the design aspects of epidemiologic observational studies, intervention studies and randomized clinical trials including cluster randomized trials. The statistical areas I am most interested in include study design, longitudinal data analysis of biomarkers and risk behavior data, survival models and development of prediction models for health outcomes.

Methods of Expertise

Longitudinal data analysis, survival models, hierarchical lineal models, clinical trials, evaluation of quality of care.

Services Available to CFAR Investigators

Study design (including randomization and matching), control of confounding, sample size calculation, statistical analysis, and manuscript review
