This Core is highly specialized to support basic, translational and clinical research in gene and stem cell therapy to treat HIV/AIDS. The core provides cryopreserved human tissues, CD34+ hematopoietic stem cells, as well as expert consultation in CD34+ stem cell isolation, culture, and efficient gene delivery using lentiviral vectors for HIV-1 gene and cellular therapy research. This core houses an AutoMACS cell separator, which is available to purify large numbers of viable cells, including PBMC and CD34+ hematopoietic stem cells.

They have extensive expertise in small and large scale retroviral and lentiviral vector transduction and colony assays for stem cell differentiation. We provide consultation on efficient vector transduction procedures and assays relevant to this purpose. Provide human embryonic stem cells (hESC) and human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC) as a potential source of hematopoietic stem cells.
