MACC Nursing Initiative
The CFAR MACC Nursing Initiative is a multi-institutional effort across the Penn, JHU, and DC CFARs with aims to support nursing faculty leadership in HIV/AIDS research. Our activities to achieve this objective include:
- Strengthening cross-institutional research collaborations through information-sharing, seminars, and scientific support;
- Developing partnerships with nursing programs and faculty at regionally affiliated HBCU’s (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) that are currently underrepresented in HIV/AIDS research; and
- Funding research opportunities through scholar awards for HIV/AIDS related projects or pilot work. We also collaborate with other CFAR initiatives on providing mentorship to undergraduate and graduate nursing scholars to increase the number of nurses with HIV/AIDS research experience.
Current collaborators in this initiative include Schools or Departments of Nursing at:
- University of Pennsylvania
- Johns Hopkins University
- George Washington University
- Georgetown University
- Howard University
- Lincoln University
- Bowie State University
- Coppin State University
- Morgan State University
