The Johns Hopkins Center for AIDS Research Adolescent and Young Adult Scientific Working Group (AYA SWG) along with several partners across the city, host “Rise & Thrive: A CFAR Youth Summit” in the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing located at 525 North Wolfe Street. The goal of the summit is to elevate the voices of young people across the city as it relates to the challenges and potential opportunities for prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections in Baltimore and beyond. The summit features speakers and panelists (researchers and youth), panel discussions (including youth), and a marketplace of diverse youth-targeted vendors and service providers.
We invite schools to nominate representatives (youth ambassadors) to attend the Rise & Thrive summit. The attending youth ambassadors receive 10 service-learning hours in addition to a gift card and attendance certificate. They are provided a light breakfast and lunch. Following the summit there are ongoing opportunities to engage with the Johns Hopkins AYA SWG (e.g., Youth Advisory Board).
